Cornwall based writers Emma Timpany and Felicity Notley  have been asked to co-edit  a new collection of Cornish Short Stories to be published by The History Press in May 2018. The working title for the collection is Cornish Short Stories: A Collection of Contemporary Cornish Writing. To be eligible for consideration, stories must be submitted by writers either born in or living and working in Cornwall.

Stories should be between 2000 and 6000 words and should have a Cornish setting.

Work should be the author’s own and should not have appeared in print or online previously.

The Collection will be divided into four thematic sections and you may or may not wish to make use of these as a prompt for your own writing:

Sailors’ Knots – the high seas and all things maritime

The Heart of the Storm – love and death

Enchantment – magic, hauntings and concealment

Cornishware – domestics

Deadline for submissions is 7th July 2017 – fast approaching!

Full guidelines and submission details can be viewed on the Cornish Short Stories website
