Chatterbooks began in 2001. There are now 750 Chatterbooks groups, with over 10,000 children taking part. The Reading Agency, a national charity, coordinates the Chatterbooks network and clubs run in schools, libraries, and other settings.
The key theme of Chatterbooks reading clubs isreading for pleasure.
The sessions aim to inspire children and young people to read different kinds of books, develop confidence in talking in a group and to have a
good time with fun and creative activities.
Reading for pleasure and the Chatterbooks model are endorsed by the Department for Education.
