A room of your own was all very well for Virginia Woolf but for most writers it feels like solitary confinement. And they are more likely to clean it or rearrange the furniture, than write in it.
But what about a room to write where you’re not alone, but instead working in the company of other writers?
The Write Place is just that ~ a peaceful studio under the eaves of Black Swan Arts in the centre of Frome, where up to ten writers can write together free from distractions six days a week.
This is hot-desking with a difference, because it’s for writers only. So mobile phones are banned, conversation frowned upon and, because it’s not-for-profit, fees are affordable.
Full membership with access from 8.30-5.30 Monday to Saturday is only £20 a month. And visitors are welcome to rent a desk (when available) at £5 for up to four hours.
Now you CAN make time for your writing between family and work commitments, even if it’s only for a few hours.
Writers write better with other writers! What are waiting for?
