Jurassic Coast poet-in-residence, Sarah Acton, is “so pleased and excited” that she’s finished her Jurassic Coast Poems East Devon poetry pamphlet, after four months in residence at local museums, and several months of work. She’ll be launching the panphlet in a low-key mini tour this Friday 15th December.
Sarah says, “the poetry and prose are inspired by the local landscape and East Devon museum collections, after my four month residency this summer spent in Exmouth, Sidmouth, Beer and Budleigh Salterton. I had full access to the museum collections, and the volunteers really brought local historical characters and stories to life with their passion and knowledge. The pamphlet is a snapshot of what stories claimed me as I walked the landscape where they happened.”
There are 150 limited edition copies of the pamphlet available, each will be numbered and signed. They are printed on recycled paper with a recycled card cover, for sale at £6 each.
If anyone would like to pick up a copy in person, or just say hello with no obligation to buy one, please come and celebrate the launch with Sarah, she’ll be having a coffee in:
Exmouth at The Point bar near the Starcross ferry slipway 12-1pm
Budleigh Salterton at The Feathers pub on the high street 2-3pm
Sidmouth at The Anchor Inn, Old Fore Street 4-5pm
Beet at The Dolphin pub 6.30-7.30pm
Sarah says, “thanks again to all of the East Devon Museums who looked after me so well this summer, opening their doors and minds to see what might happen when a poet came to visit.”
Sarah’s residency continues next year into West Dorset.
