David Punter is a poet, performer, and literary critic. He has published seven pamphlets of poetry, the last of which, Those Other Fields, was published by Palewell Press in 2020 . He has also published some 25 books of literary criticism, most of which are currently available, and from which he earns around £2,000 per year. He performs regularly solo, most recently at the Cheltenham Poetry Festival and the Ledbury Poetry Festival, as well as part of a poetry-and-jazz combo called Echoes and Edges. He has taught creative writing over a number of years. He is currently Professor of Poetry at the University of Bristol; He was until recently Co-Director of the Bristol Poetry Institute, and is still on the Board.
