Words by the Water Festival the north-west of England’s premier festival of words and ideas returns to Keswick in March at The Theatre by the Lake.
For over 15 years the festival has seen hundreds of authors and thousands of audience members converge on the wonderful theatre nestling close to beautiful Derwentwater Lake.
This year’s speakers include: Sayeeda Warsi, Jenny Uglow, Shappi Khorsandi, Michael Rosen, Vince Cable, Peter Snow, Polly Toynbee, John Crace, Caroline Moorehead, Rosie Millard, Micheal Buerk and many more.
Festival president Melvyn Bragg will also be speaking this year describes the event “…Words By the Water is simply the best Literary Festival in the country”.
Returning this year is Bookcase day which showcases some of Cumbria’s finest writing along with the the binannual Poetry Competition held at the award winning Mirehouse.
In the Studio there is a wonderful of variety of talks based around themes such as: Politics and Change, Ways of Being and On Our Doorstep which includes John Mather and Jackie Risman discussing the challenges and delights of swimming in the Lake District and further afield.All this packed into 9 days in the most magnificent of settings. Rain or shine the events are sure to challenge, surprise, amuse and delight.
