As a partner of National Writing Day, this year falling on Wednesday 27th June, we know that 'everyone has a story to tell'.
As the South West’s regional literature development agency, one of our core priorities is offering opportunities for writers to develop their practice and receive mentoring from the wealth of literary talent in the region.
This year, to celebrate National Writing Day, we’re teaming up with Devonport library in Plymouth to bring you a short story workshop with novelist Jamie Edgecombe.
For the past two years, Jamie has been writer-in-residence within Plymouth University’s English and Creative Writing department. To mark the end of his residency, Jamie presents Ordering Chaos, a session aimed at introducing and developing an understanding of the techniques writers use to structure in their stories.
Here’s more about the session from Jamie:
“Life can be chaotic. Things can happen out of the blue and take us off in new and exciting directions. Our best laid plans can be dashed. How can such experiences be brought under control in fiction?
Whether you are a beginner or already have an idea for a piece of fiction in mind, come along to this hour and a half long workshop. ”
When? Wednesday 27th June 2018, 6.30 pm – 8 pm.
Where? Devonport Library, Chapel Street, Plymouth, PL1 4DP
This event is free, but booking is essential.
