Arvon at Home: Families live guest reading with Jasbinder BilanEvent Website
Now more than ever young people need stories – to engage, to entertain, to nourish, and to help us make sense of what we’re living through. And so as part of our Arvon at Home programme, to help children keep their connection with books and reading while away from school, we are bringing you special Live Guest Readings for Families. Some of our most popular writers for children will be reading their stories live and answering your questions (these can be emailed in advance or sent via the Zoom chat box during the event).
This Live Guest Reading is with Jasbinder Bilan on Thursday 29 October at 4:00pm GMT. According to family stories, Jasbinder Bilan was born in a stable close to the foothills of the Himalayas. She lived on a farm inhabited by a grumpy camel and a monkey called Oma, until her family moved to Nottingham when she was one and a half. She has an MA in Creative Writing for Young People from Bath Spa University. Her debut, Asha And The Spirit Bird, won the Costa Children’s Book Award 2019, was nominated for the Carnegie Medal 2020, long-listed for the Jhalak Prize 2020 and shortlisted for the Waterstones Book Prize 2020. Her latest book is Tamarind & the Star of Ishta.
This event will be live and not recorded.
