Dawn Westcott is author of best-seller, Wild Pony Whispering, which tells the real-life story of Monsieur Chapeau, the wild orphaned moorland foal who showed how to better understand and tame the wild ponies of Exmoor National Park – and highlight their plight as an endangered breed. Dawn’s new book, Wild Stallion Whispering (available 31 Aug 2016) tells the captivating story of tempestuous wild-born Exmoor pony stallion Bear’s journey from unwanted foal to twice standing world champion in international horse agility. Dawn and her husband Nick are co-founders of the Moorland Exmoor Pony Breeders Group (MEPBG), Exmoor Pony Club, Moorland Exmoor Foal Project and the Holtball Exmoor Pony Stud (Herd 11). The Westcott family has lived and farmed on Exmoor for over 500 years. After a career in glossy magazine publishing in London, Dawn (née Williams) moved to the WestCountry and in 2008 married Nick. They are committed to the preservation of Exmoor ponies and encourage the use of positive, trust-based handling and training of the ponies which endeavours to understand the language of the horse.
