“If I didn’t write poetry, I think I’d explode.” – Charles Causley.

Down Stage Write (in association with The Charles Causley Trust) presents four brand new plays written by Devon and Cornwall based playwrights inspired by the poetry of Charles Causley; using his work as a springboard to urgent stories of humans, the land and folklore. Each has a very different take on the poems, so expect laughter, tears and a distinctly Cornish point of view. These four plays will also be accompanied by a number of readings from ‘A Certain Man: Charles Causley in his words’ by Simon Parker.

Estimated Running Time: 1hr 20 mins

Recommended for those aged 14+. There are references to sex, abuse/sexual assault and drug taking.

Down Stage Write is a theatre company dedicated to developing and producing Devon and Cornwall based writers. Our work has playwrights and new writing at its heart. We create opportunities for playwrights to develop their practice and their work through workshops, dramaturgical support, rehearsed readings and networking opportunities. We want to create spaces not only for professional development but also to build a strong network and community of performance writers.
