Yes, you’ve heard it before: show, don’t tell. But if there’s one single way to give your writing more umph, this is it.
And the way we’ll go about it, you’ll grasp it like you’ve never grasped it before. Prepare to see your writing rise to a whole new level!
This three-hour masterclass on Show Don’t Tell takes place on Sunday 6th October from 9.30am to 1.00pm and includes tea and coffee
Your tutor Susan Elderkin is the author of two novels, Sunset Over Chocolate Mountains (winner of a Betty Trask award) and The Voices (shortlisted for the Ondaatje prize). She began cutting her (gentle!) teaching teeth in 2000 as a tutor for The Arvon Foundation.
She went on to teach on the creative writing MAs at Birkbeck, Goldsmith’s and City universities and set up her own private workshops in London in 2006.
In 2008, she and her friend Ella Berthoud founded the bibliotherapy service at The School of Life in London, where they prescribe fiction for life’s ailments.
Together they wrote The Novel Cure: An A-Z of Literary Remedies (Canongate), and The Story Cure: Books to Keep Kids Happy, Healthy and Wise.
