An author talk by the judge of the 2019 Bath Novella-in-Flash Award on writing a Novella-in-Flash.
Michael Loveday will talk about flash fiction and the rise of the novella-in-flash, looking at the opportunities for writers to use this form.
The form of flash is uniquely suited to the 21st century and we’ll be chatting about key works. Director of Novel Nights, Grace Palmer will be chatting to Michael Loveday about how to construct a novella from flash fiction and if flash reflects real life more accurately than the novel.
Michael Loveday’s novella-in-flash Three Men on the Edge was published by V. Press in 2018, and his poetry pamphlet He Said / She Said by HappenStance Press (2011). His writing has appeared in The Spectator; Flash: the International Short-Short Story Magazine; National Flash Fiction Day Anthology; and Funny Bone: Flashing for Comic Relief. He is a freelance tutor of creative writing in Adult and Higher Education, and a Director of the National Association of Writers in Education. He was judge of the inaugural Tongues and Grooves Prose Poem Prize in 2018, and judge of the 2019 Bath Novella-in-Flash Award.
Flash fiction writers are welcome to submit work to read at this event. See https://www.novelnights.co.uk/ for details.
