WriteClub’s online open mic parties started back in March in response to You Know What. They’ve become popular events where writers come and share their writing – new, blue and borrowed. You can expect an evening packed with poems and stories, plus a chance to share your own words. Come and read, listen and celebrate new writing – no matter what else is happening in this craaaaaaazy world.
Do I have to read to take part?
Not at all! You can come and be part of the brilliant audience who will listen and show appreciation of the creative work with cheers and thumbs up and applause.
But I want to! What can I read?
Share an extract from your work in progress, read a poem that you love, unleash a rant, a story, a snippet from your diary. It can be writing wot-you-made-yourself, or writing from someone else that might inspire us all. If you want to be on the list of readers, you’ll need to get in quick and book your space – email email@example.com
Alternatively, just come along and enjoy being read to!
Everyone is welcome in the WriteClub Zoom Room. This party is open to WriteClubbers and wannabe WriterClubbers and non-WriteClubbers and people who’ve never even heard of WriteClub until now. Basically anyone.
How is this party going to work?
We’ll meet on Zoom – I’ll send login details closer to the time. We’ll have a selection of readers in the main Zoom room – if you’d love to be one of those, then please email in advance to firstname.lastname@example.org. You can read work that you’ve produced yourself, or you can bring a piece by someone else that has inspired you. Or you can just come along and spend time in excellent company!
Who’s bringing the cocktails?
You are! And the party hats! And the sequins. (Or the mugs of tea and pyjamas…whatever you feel like really…it’s your house!)
I’ve never been to a WriteClub session. Can I still join in?
Yes, but priority for the main reading slots will be given to people who have attended at least one WriteClub workshop in the past.
This is not a creative writing workshop, it’s a chance to get together and enjoy the company of other writers. It’s an opportunity to listen to some great writing and to share your own if you want to (book your slot in advance, please!
“Thank you for your good humour and encouragement, you’re a generous leader who genuinely delights in your students achievements. Can’t wait to work with you again!” (Evie)
“Ali is a fabulous host!” (Liz)
