Following on from the evocation of childhood and family in Sift (Impress Books,2010), accidentals celebrates occasions and instances seen in the perspective of a whole lifetime. Its disparate range of subjects includes: capsizing a small boat in a North Sea gale; two visits to Petra, thirty-eight years apart; the paintings of
Samuel Palmer; lighthouses; favourite films; sea-horses; J.S. Bach’s music; Voltaire’s Candide. With eight illustrations by the author’s daughter, Erica Sail, and eight of the author’s poems, it offers a witty and thought-provoking take on the single life at its centre.
Join us at 7:30pm on Tuesday 15th December to hear Lawrence Sail and Martin Sorrell (author of Paulette) in conversation at the launch of accidentals.
