Dr Mimi Thebo, will discuss writing memoir and autobiography at Novel Nights. Hospital High, her latest novel for young adults, is based on the author’s experience of a traumatic teen car accident and lengthy hospitalisation and recovery. Previous novels for young adults include Coyote Summer, Dreaming the Bear, Drawing Together, Hit the Road, Jack, Welcome to Eudora and The Saint Who Loved Me.
Mimi Thebo is a Carnegie-nominated author for children and adults. Her work has been translated into 12 languages, made into a BAFTA award-winning film by the BBC and signed for deaf children by ITV. Her work carries messages of hope, resilience and recovery and her writing has been called, ‘spare but poetic’ and ‘heartbreakingly beautiful’.
Born in the USA, Mimi has lived in the UK for many years. She is Reader in Creative Writing at the University of Bristol and is designing a new MA in Creative Writing for the University.
