All That Is Between Us, a debut short fiction collection from West Country author K.M. Elkes, will be published on June 22, 2019, by Ad Hoc Fiction.

The book explores the complex fragility of human relationships, both the challenges of belonging and how much we risk to avoid being alone. It is a book of moments, evoking the beauty and comfort that connection brings, and the pain when it is severed.

The book has a strong West Country ties. The author lives in North Somerset, just outside Bristol. The cover art is of a famous Dorset landmark Colmer’s Hill, created by Bridport-based studio artist Suzanne Clements. And the publisher is Ad Hoc Fiction, which is based in Bath.

The collection has drawn early acclaim from a number of authors, including 2019 Women’s Prize for Fiction Longlister Sophie van Llewyn, who described it as a ‘string of perfect moments’ and Costa Prize winner Angela Readman, who said: “K.M. Elkes writes like a fallen angel, making the ordinary divine…This is breath-taking flash fiction at its finest.”

The book has also been praised by flash fiction luminaries from the USA, including Kathy Fish and Meg Pokrass.
