Creative Writing Workshops

As part of the Lit-Up! and Poole Libraries writing residency, Louisa Adjoa Parker will be running a series of FREE creative writing workshops for over-16s during September, October and November 2016. The sessions will be held at Poole Central Library, Rossmore Library, and Canford Heath Library.

The aim of the sessions, which will link in with the Reading Ahead initiative, is to inspire those with an interest in reading and writing to develop confidence in their relationship with words, and to create their own pieces of work.

The sessions will be loosely based around themes of identity; home and belonging; place & landscape; and journeys & migration. Participants will read work by diverse writers exploring these topics, and be supported to write their own work which reflects their lives and the places they live (or have lived) in.

A selection of the work produced during these sessions will be chosen for inclusion in a new anthology. A competition is being held so that local people who are unable to attend the workshops can still submit their work for consideration.

The workshops are suitable for anyone over the age of 16 who has basic literacy skills, including people for whom English is their second language.

Places are limited, so please book by contacting Janet Westcott T: 01202 262449 E:, or by emailing Louisa:
