Word on Tour showcases a diverse range of talented South West-based writers and this Somerset leg is part of a 26-date live literature tour of local libraries in the region. It is a partnership between Literature Works and SWRLS (the South Western Regional Library Service).

Bridgwater, Burnham-on-Sea, Minehead, Cheddar and Nether Stowey libraries will each play host to two award-winning writers throughout June and July. On 20th June, Bridgwater Library kicks off the first of five literary events in the county with nature writer, Miriam Darlington and poet Alyson Hallett.

Alyson then travels east to join Costa Award winning novelist, Andrew Miller in conversation at Burnham-on-Sea Library on 27th June.

Performance poet Lucy English joins Andrew Miller in Minehead Library to discuss their latest creative ventures on 11th July.

Then it’s off to Cheddar Library with performance poet and founder of Tongue Fu nights, Chris Redmond joining novelist, Anna Freeman on 18th July.

We finish our Somerset tour at Nether Stowey, with Cornwall-based novelist Patrick Gale and award-winning poet and children’s writer, Julia Copus on 25 July.

Helen Chaloner, CEO of Literature Works said:“Word on Tour is about bringing the region’s writing and performance talent to the door of local communities. Our local library is an essential shared space that is open to all. We hope audiences will embrace these fun, thought-provoking and celebratory performances.”
