Applications now open for the Hip Yak Poetry School
Dates: 23rd – 26th May 2019
The Hip Yak Poetry School has an opportunity it thinks you might like a lot. On Thursday 23 May 2019, 50 poets from the South West will be going to Wild Ways in Shropshire, a ‘Centre of Inspiration, Creativity, Celebration and Transformation’ for three days and nights at the Hip Yak Poetry School.
11 of these poets will be your teachers. You might know them: Chris Redmond, Jonny Fluffypunk, Liv Torc, Beryl the Feral, Matt Harvey, Kate Fox, Pete the Temp, Birdspeed, Lucy English, Zena Edwards & Dizraeli.
But we are not going to teach you poetry. We are going to teach you how to make a living as a poet! We are also going to come up with a plan together to make the spoken word poetry scene in the South West, bigger, bolder and even more beautiful. Literature in the South West is the most underdeveloped art form in the country… and we are going to change that.
We are funded by the Arts Council Big Lottery and our partners are Apples and Snakes, Literature Works, Take Art and Burning Eye.
The Hip Yak Poetry School is looking for semi professional and professional poets from across the regions at all stages of their careers. Tickets cost £200 standard price and £125 concession. Full bursary places are also available.
