Devon Caperich

In the late 1980s, I was commissioned by Macmillan Publishers to write books about child welfare, resulting in a successful non-fiction career. I am now devoting my time to writing fiction.
I have two main fictional projects. Most of my novels are set in the past, although one series is based on my work experiences in the 1980s. My second series of books are seafaring adventures set in the early 1700s. I have often sailed on tall ships so have some understanding of life on board.
Although an experienced non-fiction author, I find fiction so much more difficult because there is no ‘captive readership’, no formulaic structure or writing style, no illustrating issues with diagrams, photographs or tables, and no ability to directly cite other people when they express points more eloquently than I can. I therefore welcome support and critiques from experienced fiction writers.
