I am a husband, writer, marketer of beer and estranged northerner. I grew up in the North East before relocating and losing my accent to South Wales. I’m now back in England, cultivating my tone of voice in a hybrid tongue, based in Bristol but conducting an intense love affair with Cornwall.
I was fortunate enough during (the first) lockdown to be based in Cornwall. Furloughed from the day job, I took daily to the coast path and started spotting signs to inspire my creative writing. The first came in the form of ‘Letters to a Young Poet’, a tome of inspiration for an aspiring writer, which I found on a bench near Newlyn. The location then played a huge part in my first novel, ‘Cut to the Quick’, the first draft of which I’m now editing.
My short story, ‘Beyond Lamorna’, featured on Bandit Fiction in January 2021, and I recently completed the Curtis Brown Creative course, Writing Short Stories.
