I’m fascinated by connections between the past and present, and storytelling around the world. I’ve written five books (the fifth due out in 2022) and I’ve won the Dolman Travel Book Award and been shortlisted for several other awards. My books tend to mix up my travels, to places as far apart as Iceland and Iran, Western Sahara and East Anglia, with detailed historical research, oral stories and mythology, in-depth political analysis and conversations along the way.
