I’ve been publishing fiction – eight novels so far – since the mid 1990s. I was born in Bristol – a city I seem to have mixed feelings about but always find interesting – and spent my first years in a village just outside Bristol where my father was the GP. At the age of four I moved to Bath with my mother and brother, a smoke-black Georgian house on a hill above the city – a place (house and city) I came to love. I’ve spent several years of my life living abroad – France, Spain, Ireland, Japan – and perhaps will again some day. I’m always tempted. For now, home is rural South Somerset, cow country.
