Hazel Prior is an author and freelance Celtic harpist. She lives on Exmoor with her husband and a huge, ginger cat.
Her two bestselling novels have been described as ‘lyrical’, ‘quirky’ and ‘uplifting’. Ellie and the Harp Maker, her first book, is inspired by her love of music and the countryside. Her second novel, Away with the Penguins, is about an octogenarian’s very enlightening trip to Antarctica. It was a Richard and Judy Book Club pick and a BBC Radio 2 Book Club pick as well as becoming the number one bestseller both in kindle and audiobook. Hazel’s third novel, Call of the Penguins, will be out in November 2021.
Hazel enjoys sharing what she has learned about writing and is known for her unique book talks that include harp interludes. Sometimes she can be persuaded to perform her song, ‘Books Are Cool’.
