Laura Quigley is an advocate for great narrative. As an award-winning story-teller, receiving financial assistance from the Arts Council, she also helps others craft and promote their material. Her professional work is all about discovering the most effective way to reach new audiences, with thousands following her work through social media, as well as buying her traditional publications in bookstores.
Her successful theatre work includes ‘Touched’, ‘Next’, ‘The Advocate’, ‘Room’ and ‘No Signal’. ‘The Advocate’ won Amnesty International’s Human Rights Playwriting Award. Her published poetry has also won awards and was most recently performed for the War Graves Commission, as part of a group workshop commissioned by the 1418Now commemorations of the First World War.
Laura also judges local debating and public speaking competitions, actively promoting communication skills in our schools, as well as encouraging literacy skills through talks and competitions. She supports, promotes and gives presentations to local heritage events and literature festivals, and specialises in local non-fiction stories from the 17th century and World War 2. She is currently working on full length novels for the grown-up market.
