Aimed at confident writers considering freelance work in the community, this eight-week evening course offers a training tool-kit for those interested in developing commissions, residencies and workshops for diverse communities.

The course will share best practice for writers working with the general public, with a focus on communities living with dementia, physical challenges, or neurologically diverse needs. 

The course also offers training in workshop delivery, funding applications, and project management. You will work with visiting professionals who will share their experiences of key projects and commissions, supporting your development through a series of workshops, talks, and training sessions.

By the end of the course, participants should have the confidence and skills to deliver a creative writing project aimed at a community of their choice. Participants are anticipated to attend the majority of sessions as this isn’t oriented towards drop-in work. A course overview is as follows:
