Future Worlds Prize for Fantasy and Science Fiction Writers of Colour 2025
The Future Worlds Prize for Fantasy and Science Fiction Writers of Colour 2025 is now open for entries.
They’re looking to find the best new talent based in the UK or Ireland and writing in the SFF space. Whether your work is a horror novel, a collection of dystopian short stories, an epic romantasy or something else, they want to hear from you.
If you win, you’ll get £4,500. There’s also a runner-up prize of £2,500, and up to six more shortlisted writers get £850. All eight shortlisted writers receive mentoring from one of these publishing partners: Bloomsbury, Daphne Press, Gollancz, HarperVoyager, Hodderscape, Orbit, Penguin Michael Joseph, Simon & Schuster and Tor.
To enter, you must be:
- a writer of colour
- based in the UK or Ireland
- over 18
- unpublished by a traditional publisher.
Your entry must consist of:
- a synopsis of your work
- a cover letter
- and an extract of up to 10,000 words of your work.
Send these as separate files, either Word or Google Docs, or PDFs, and do not put any identifying details on your synopsis or extract.
Submissions close at 23:59 GMT on 26th January 2025.
