Announcing the quay words spring 2022 programme
We’re thrilled to announce our Spring Science season for Quay Words 2022. We’ll be exploring how the arts and sciences can work together to communicate both the wonder of the universe and the pressing issues of our time. We’ll be celebrating Exeter as a leading hub of innovation and looking at writing that can communicate the city’s future in the face of ecological and climate change.
Our writer-in-residence Ellen Wiles will be delving into the theme with a creative writing and walking workshop for families, a panel event with expert scientists and a listening event for her commissioned sound piece on 30th April.
We have fantastic author events programmed, starting with leading climate scientist Prof. Peter Stott discussing his recent book Hot Air in conversation with Virginia Baily. Previous writer-in-residence Louisa Adjoa Parker will share the piece she wrote during her residency at a reading with new writers she worked with. We will have a scintillating evening of storytelling from Sally Pomme Clayton with her show The Magician’s Apprentice.
We have a range of fantastic workshops and masterclasses. Polly Ho-Yen will be guiding you to improve your writing for the next generation with her 5-week course on Writing Children’s Fiction. Virginia Baily will be leading our masterclass – a creative writing deep dive into the mysteries of the Universe! Award winning poet, Pascale Petit leads a 5-week poetry writing course – the Trance of Nature – giving you the tools to capture your own nature poems.
