Penzance Poetry Parlour with Katrina Naomi
Katrina’s next Penzance Poetry Parlour on 7 November 2019 will feature Annamaria Murphy and Mary J. Oliver.
Annamaria Murphy is a poet and writer. She is also well-known for her theatre and storytelling. She is a long-term member of Knee High Theatre (most recently as a writer). She also writes regularly for BBC Radio 4. Annamaria is also Artistic Director of The Story Republic and The Writer’s Block, part of Kernow Education Arts Partnership.
After a life in visual arts, Mary J. Oliver switched to writing. Her first book is a poetic memoir, Jim Neat: The Case of a Young Man Down on His Luck, (Seren, 2019), which in Mary’s words ‘reveals the secret life of my dad, a hobo in Canada during the 1930s’. The original manuscript was runner up in the New Welsh Writing Awards.
Entry is by minimum donation of £6. Doors open at 7 and the readings start at 7.30. There will be free cava and popcorn.
