As part of the Play on Words Festival 2024 (formerly the English Riviera Literature Festival).
This participatory workshop will include the chance to look at elements of your own family history and think about the most interesting parts to follow up. The workshop with Alison Huntingford will look at census records, certificates of births, marriages and deaths, institution records and more to create a rounded picture of one particular ancestor. Alison is a historical fiction author with a degree in Humanities with Literature. Alison has always enjoyed reading, especially the great writers of the 19th Century, such as Charles Dickens and Thomas Hardy. Her working life has been spent teaching English and maths to young people. She is the founder of the South Hams Authors Network. Held in Stage Left at the Palace Theatre Paignton.
