The Cornish town of St Austell will host its annual Festival of Children’s Literature from June 28th to June 30th, 2024.


It features a stellar lineup of acclaimed children’s authors and illustrators hosting a range of events for children aged 0-12.  Highlights include Hannah Gold, Onjali Q. Rauf , Jenny McLachlan Katie Kirby, Jasbinder Bilan, Tola Okogwu, Ed Vere, Sarah McIntyre, Philip Reeve, Clare Helen Welsh, Louie Stowell, Neill Cameron plus many more!


Aims of the Festival

  • Celebrate the fact that choosing to read improves a child’s life outcomes
  • Enable children to experience a live author event
  • Support families in choosing to read together
  • Inspire a community that embraces reading for pleasure.


A dedicated Schools Day on Friday 28th June will host events for over 2000 students.

Partners of the festival are White River Cinema, White River Place and Reading Rocks plus the support of Cornwall Education Learning Trust (CELT).

Each event costs £1.00 to attend, making it accessible to everyone who wants to experience an author event or illustrator workshop.

Each event will be held at various venues across the town, including White River Cinema, Unit 4 studio and various pop-up locations.
