Storyteller Katy Cawkwell will be running an  Introduction to Storytelling workshop at the Community Garden on 19th March.  This is suitable for complete beginners, but should also be useful for people with some experience who would like to use the session to work on a new story.  Katy has 25 years experience of working with traditional tales – folktale, fairy story, myth and legend – and is well-known in the storytelling world for her captivating performances and inspiring workshops.

The event is being supported by Literature Works’ Annual Fund and so is free and open to everyone, but you must sign up for a place in advance and, as spaces are limited, please let us know if you are then unable to attend.  Aimed at adults, but younger would-be storytellers are most welcome (please contact Katy in advance, if participant is under 11). To book a place go to https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/243816370327

We plan to work outdoors if the weather permits, so wrap up warm and bring along the text (or the idea) of a story that you’d like to work on telling – if you’re not sure about this, Katy will have some stories you can choose from in the workshop. Hot drinks available throughout.

Workshop will run 2-5pm.  We would strongly encourage all participants to stay on afterwards for one or both of the “Story Blaze” campfire circles, where workshop participants will have a chance to share their story, if they want to.

“Story Blaze” campfire circles, hosted by Katy Cawkwell who will also be telling some stories round the fire.  If you’d like to tell a short story at one of these but you can’t attend the workshop, please contact Katy in advance – priority will be given to workshop participants.  All are welcome to listen, but parking is limited – contact Linda if you need to reserve a spot.5.30-6.30pm Children’s Circle (stories aimed at 5-11yr olds, younger children welcome)7-8pm Adult/Teen Circle (stories not necessarily suitable for under 12s)

We are planning to host at least two more Story Blaze events 8-9pm at the full moon campfires on 16 Apr and 16 May.
