Nature Calling writing commission
Activate Performing Arts are seeking writers and artists from all backgrounds to work with communities to explore and celebrate nature for a new Arts Council and Defra funded national arts programme: Nature Calling. This is a National Landscapes Association project which aims to listen to our communities and ensure our landscapes are a place for everyone. There are 12 substantial commission opportunities available for exceptional writers and artists.
There are six writing commissions and six artistic project commissions and Activate Performing Arts welcome applications from the widest variety of artists. People who might not normally think of applying for outdoor or nature based commissions are especially welcome.
Writing Commission:
We are inviting proposals from published writers from any writing discipline – poetry, song, prose, rap; ideally you will be new to nature writing and with some connection to one of the National Landscapes. The writing fee is set at £5,000 (excluding VAT).
Artistic Commission:
A project commission inspired by the writing is available for artists. Commissioning funds are available for artists from a diverse range of disciplines to create a presentational piece, and to co-create and engage with people within and near to the National Landscape as part of a national season in 2025. The project commission is set at £40,000 (excluding VAT).
