Seeking the next Plymouth Laureate of Words
Submissions for Plymouth Laureate of Words 2023-25 have now closed. Thank you to everyone who has applied and shared their work with us.
Key dates coming up:
31st July 2023 – A shortlist of candidates will be chosen by a panel including representatives from Literature Works, Plymouth Culture and The Box, as well as our current Laureates Laura Horton and Mimi Jones.
Monday 14th August – Shortlisted candidates will be asked to provide a short video of themselves by this date, containing a brief introduction and a recording of them reading their application piece on the theme of ‘Blue Spaces’, to be shared online as part of the public voting process.
Monday 21st August – Recorded videos will be made available via the Literature Works website and members of the public will be asked to vote for their Plymouth Laureate of Words.
Monday 4th September – Public Voting Closes. The candidate with the highest number of votes will be appointed as the city’s next Laureate of Words.
Wednesday 6th September, 5 pm. – Successful Candidate notified
Wednesday 27th September – Laureateship Handover Event
