Queer Writing Masterclasses for Bristol-based LGBTQI+ writers
Are you a Bristol based LGBTQI+ writer interested in addressing themes of urban renewal, displaced communities, and personal stories?
Tom Marshman wants to find a new queer writing family, and with the help of Bristol City Council and Quartet Foundation he is bringing journalists, authors, prize-winners, publishers and performers to Bristol to lead 5 x 2 hour masterclasses to a new writing cohort. Interested?
There are 15 places, masterclasses will be run from September 2024 – Feb 2025 and the aim is to share work as part of LGBTQI+ history month in 2025. Participation is free and travel stipends are available within Bristol.
Mentors
Travis Alabanza: a writer, poet, theatre maker and performer
Karen Mcleod: a writer, performer and creative writing tutor. Who has won the Betty Trask Award and was shortlisted for the Best First Novel Award.
Paul Burston: is an author and a journalist from Wales. He edited, the LGBT section of Time Out and founded the Polari Prize
Joelle Taylor: The author of 4 collections of poetry. Winner of the 2021 TS Elliot Prize &the 2022 Polari Book Prize for LGBT authors
