Writing competitions for the Sabine Baring-Gould Celebrations in 2024
Three writing competitions to celebrate the anniversary of the death in 1924 of the prolific Victorian novelist and short story writer Sabine Baring-Gould are being hosted by Tavistock Subscription Library, which the Reverend Sabine Baring-Gould used while living in his family home Lewtrenchard.
Competition 1 – Adult Short Story Competition
Two prizes of £50 for a short story based on one of two themes, maximum 1,000 words
Entry fee: £5 for first entry and £2 for any subsequent entries
Competition 2 – Under 18s Short Story & Drawing Competition
Three prizes – under 7s, 8-11 and 12-17 age groups – for a drawing and/or story about Sabine Baring-Gould’s children.
No entry fee.
Competition 3 – Adult Poetry Competition
Two prizes of £50 for a poem based on one of two themes.
Entry fee: £5 for first entry and £2 for any subsequent entries
