Women’s Prize Discoveries 2024
The Women’s Prize Trust – the charity creating equitable opportunities for women in the world of books – has announced the launch of Discoveries 2025, the popular writing development programme and prize. Run in partnership with Audible, the Curtis Brown Literary and Talent Agency, and the Curtis Brown Creative writing school, Discoveries aims to inspire unagented and unpublished women in the UK and Ireland to write their first novels, providing a roster of resources designed to support women at all stages of their writing journey, with an ongoing commitment to reach writers currently underrepresented in the UK publishing industry.
Women in the UK and Ireland are invited submit the opening of their novel in any genre – up to 10,000 words – for the chance to take part in a bespoke creative writing course, secure personalised mentorship packages, access expert feedback, and join a supportive community of emerging writers, with one overall winner receiving representation with a literary agent and £5,000.
Submissions are open until 13 January 2025. Details on how to enter can be found at www.womensprize.com/discoveries.
To inspire as many women as possible to enter and to help writers begin and refine their submissions, The Women’s Prize Trust curate a free toolkit of resources, including writing tips and insights into the agenting and publishing process, practical advice and inspiration from judges, Women’s Prize for Fiction winners and publishing professionals. There is also a programme of live and online events and workshops. Find out more at www.womensprize.com/discoveries
