Alyson Hallett is a prize-winning poet. She has published numerous sole-authored collections as well as collaborative collections of poetry and prose. Recent books include Stone Talks (Triarchy Press). LZRD – written with Penelope Shuttle (Indigo Dreams Press) Toots (Mariscat Press). In addition to poetry, she has also written drama for Radio 4 and television; an essay for the Essay series on Radio 3; a book of short stories, and essays. Alyson loves to work collaboratively and has created work with sculptors, visual artists, composers, dancers. Public art work includes a poem carved into Milsom Street pavement in Bath, and words etched into library windows by Opus Glass.
For the past 20 years Alyson has curated the international poetry and art project, The Migration Habits of Stones. This involves taking stones around the world with a line of poetry carved into them and researching how stones move. This work has led to an audio diary for Radio 4, numerous awards from the Arts Council, and an invitation to present at the Bellarmine Forum, LMU, Los Angeles.
Alyson works part time for the Royal Literary Fund and teaches at UWE and Falmouth University. She is a Hawthornden Fellow, has taught for Arvon and has held many prestigious residencies in the UK including the Charles Causley poetry residency; a Leverhulme-funded residency in Exeter University geography department; the Small School and most recently in the Lyell Centre at Heriot-Watt University. Alyson is a committed mentor of young and developing poets as well as experienced writers.
