Claire Barker’s stories about Knitbone Pepper, the lovable ghost dog (Usborne) have been published in eleven different languages. In 2017 they were shortlisted for the Sainsbury’s Children’s Fiction award and won the Book Factor, an award voted for exclusively by children. In the same year she was nominated by Devon Librarians for the prestigious Ruth Rendell Award, for the author who has done the most to champion literacy in the region. In September 2018 the first in a brand new series, Picklewitch and Jack, was published by Faber and Faber. She is a regular visitor to literary festivals, schools and libraries up and down the country and has some lovely flowery dresses to prove it. Claire is often to be found on a train, her nose in a book.
