After completing an English degree at Oxford University and working as an actor and arts administrator in London, Clare married a boat builder and moved to Cornwall. In 2008 she founded a theatre company specialising in improvising the real life stories of audiences around the county, before going on to write and perform her own material with the all women ensemble Riot of the Freelance Mind. Her short stories have been published by Litro, Fairlight, Mslexia, Storgy and in the anthology An Outbreak of Peace and her debut YA novel Zed and the Cormorants was published by Arachne Press.
