I am the winner of the 2013 Ted Hughes Award for New Work in Poetry for my live literature production ‘Zones of Avoidance’.
My poetry collections include Charcot’s Pet (Flarestack), The Zig Zag Woman (Two Ravens Press) and Zones of Avoidance (Cinnamon Press). My work has been frequently anthologised and my articles on poetry and well-being are included in Writing Your Self (Continuum) and Writing Routes (Jessica Kingsley Publishers). In 2013 I was chosen by the Poetry Book Society to represent Portsmouth on the T. S. Eliot Poetry Prize Tour. I deliver creative writing projects in community and healthcare settings and have worked with the homeless, people in recovery from addiction and mental ill health. I hold an MA with distinction in Creative Writing and am a member of the National Association of Writers in Education. In 2016 I was a visiting tutor/poet at Bucharest University’s Masterclass in Translation.
